Texifier logs unusual errors during its operation to an error log. This is very often helpful for us when debugging problems, and we usually ask for it if you get in touch.

The Texifier error log contains information logged by Texifier macOS during its run. Often this contains information useful for debugging problems, and we usually ask for it if you contact us with a bug. This log is stored in a different place if you have the sandboxed version of Texifier from the Mac App Store, the unsandboxed version purchased directly from us, or the unsandboxed beta version if you are trying Texifier pre-release.

This file is in plain text so please read the contents before sending it to us if you are concerned about privacy issues.

The instructions below explain how to access the log depending on the version.

Texifier downloaded directly from texifier.com

• Open Finder.
• Click on the Go menu.
• Click on the Go To Folder... item.
• Type ~/Library/Application Support/Texifier into the box and press enter.
  • While we transition from Texpad to Texifier, you may find this directory to be at ~/Library/Application Support/Texpad.
• Attach texpad-error-log.txt to an email to us.
  • Once again, during the Texpad to Texifier transition, this file may remain named texpad-error-log.txt. It will be renamed to texifier-error-log.txt in due course.

Texifier downloaded from Mac App Store

• Open Finder.
• Click on the Go menu.
• Click on the Go To Folder... item.
• Type ~/Library/Containers/com.vallettaventures.Texifier/Data/Library/Application Support/Texifier into the box and press enter.
  • While we transition from Texpad to Texifier, you may find this directory to be at ~/Library/Containers/com.vallettaventures.Texifier/Data/Library/Application Support/Texpad.
• Attach texpad-error-log.txt to an email to us.
  • Once again, during the Texpad to Texifier transition, this file may remain named texpad-error-log.txt. It will be renamed to texifier-error-log.txt in due course.

Texifier Beta (delivered to selected users upon request)

• Open Finder.
• Click on the Go menu.
• Click on the Go To Folder... item.
• Type ~/Documents/Texifier Beta Logs into the box and press enter.
  • During the Texpad to Texifier transition, this folder will be called Texpad Beta Logs.
• Attach texpad-error-log.txt to an email to us.
  • Once again, during the Texpad to Texifier transition, this file may remain named texpad-error-log.txt. It will be renamed to texifier-error-log.txt in due course.
