Like all software vendors we need to decide how old an operating system our new updates should support. When we do drop support for a system, we will of course make the last version of Texifier supporting that configuration available on this page, you will never be left without a Texifier. If you do choose to stick with an old operating system you will no longer receive new features in Texifier.
Given that most features are driven by new features being added to the operating system, it is pragmatically impossible to provide these features to users on older operating systems. The best we can do is find a way for Texifier to turn off those features on older operating systems where the required support is not available, but in this case there is no real point in delivering a new version of Texifier anyhow.
If our work on Texifier does not require new operating features, then we won’t deprecate older operating system versions until we need to. An exception to this rule is that we will never support an operating system for which the platform owner is not releasing security patches. Due to the rapid speed at which security exploits are converted into automated attacks by criminals, using an internet connected computer that is no longer covered by security updates compromises both your data and any online interactions. Additionally it is possible for an unprotected computer to be used as part of a botnet in a DDoS attack against a third party. We are required to test Texifier on all operating systems we support, and it is not responsible to us or to others to do so on a system without up to date security patches.
macOS
In practice, Apple’s policy right now seems to be to provide security patches for the last 3 versions of macOS, dropping support for one each year in September when the new macOS leaves beta, and gets released to all users.
Please note that Texifier copies prior to 1.8.0 used a purchase certificate system, rather than a licence key system, so if you are using an old copy of Texifier you will need a purchase certificate. You can download a legacy purchase certificate by logging into texifier.com, then visiting https://www.texifier.com/account/settings/licences.
32 bit Desktop processors (x86)
Since Texifier 1.6.2, we no longer release new updates for 32 bit processors on Desktop macOS, regardless of operating system. There are very few left 32 bit machines in circulation now, and 32 bit has been deprecated in the developer tools we use, so to continue developing Texifier and integrate the new features of macOS, we now have to discontinue updates for 32 bit machines.
If you do have a 32 bit machine, Texifier 1.6.1, the final update with 32 bit support can be downloaded here.
Please note that you will need to download a purchase certificate as described above if you intend to use Texifier 1.6.2.
Snow Leopard (OS X 10.6), Lion (OS X 10.7), Mountain Lion(OS X 10.8)
Since Texifier 1.7.0 we no longer release updates for macOS versions before Mavericks (OS X 10.9) (Desktop OS X 10.6). If you do have a Snow Leopard machine, then the final update with Snow Leopard support is 1.6.14, and it can be downloaded here.
Please note that you will need to download a purchase certificate as described above if you intend to use Texifier 1.6.14.
Mavericks (OS X 10.9), Yosemite (OS X 10.10)
When released, Texifier 1.8.0 will no longer support OS X 10.10 (Yosemite) or earlier. If you do use Mavericks or Yosemite, the final update with support for Mavericks or Yosemite is 1.7.45, and it can be downloaded here.
Please note that you will need to download a purchase certificate as described above if you intend to use Texifier 1.7.45.
El Capitan (OS X 10.11)
From version 1.8.6 Texifier no longer supports OS X 10.11 (El Capitan) or earlier. The final update supporting El Capitan is 1.8.5, and it can be downloaded here.

Sierra (OS X 10.12), High Sierra (OS X 10.13)

Mojave (macOS 10.14)
From Version 1.9.3 Texifier no longer supports macOS 10.14 (Mojave). The final update supporting Mojave is Texifier 1.9.2, and it can be downloaded here.
This version of Texifier uses the current licence key system, so there is no need to download the old purchase certificate, just follow the instructions in the email you received.
Big Sur (macOS 11)
On Big Sur, the last supoorted version of Texifier is v1.9.21.
Crashes of auto-updated Texifier on Big Sur (Automn 2023): If you app has managed to update beyond v1.9.21 on Big Sur, it may not launch. Please manually download version 1.9.21 from its release notes page and replace the app in your Applications folder with that version.
iOS
Apple do not generally publish security patches for anything other than the latest version of iOS, and some years the one before, so for iOS we only ever support the latest version once it is available.
Apple’s iTunes will automatically give you the highest version of Texifier compatible with your device, so there is no need to download anything specific.
32 bit iPhone/iPad/iPod processors (armv7, armv72)
As of iOS 11 Apple dropped support for 32 bit ARM processors, so Texifier iOS will also drop compatibility with the first update after 1.7.15. You can download 1.7.15 from the App Store if you have one of these devices.
This affects iPhone 5 or earlier, iPad 4th Generation (retina) or earlier and 5th Generation iPod touch or earlier. This approximately accounts for devices from 2012 or earlier.
